Awards

1. The Best Paper Award

The " Best Paper Award " is part of the e-Learning Excellence in the Middle East Forum.The award has been established with the purpose of honoring the author(s) of a paper of exceptional merit dealing with a particular subject area related to e-learning.

The jury will select the winners of the award based on the following criteria:

  • Contribution to the literature and advancement of e-Learning
  • Originality of the work presented
  • Relevance to the themes of the 2nd Annual Forum on e-Learning Excellence in the Middle East 2009.
  • Clarity and style of presentation. (members of the jury must attend the presentation)
  • Technical strength (compliance with manuscript format and style guide of the forum)

2. Best Presentation Award

The " Best Presentation Award " is established with the purpose of recognising the best presentation taking place during the forum Members of the jury will select the winner based on:

  • The scientific content and quality of the presentation (i.e. originality, significance, etc.)
  • The quality of the presentation (i.e. clarity, layout & design, etc.)
  • The presentation itself (i.e. how well the speaker was able to deliver an exciting talk, abidance by allocated time, effectiveness of the communication of the concept to the audience, etc.)

Jury
The Best Paper/ Presentation Awards jury includes five members, appointed by the Chair of the Forum.

AWARD PRESENTATIONS

The Awards for the Best Paper and the Best Presentation will be announced during the Forum Gala Dinner, taking place on the 27th of January, 2009 .

Eligibility of Awards

Authors of all papers accepted at the forum are eligible for consideration for the awards apart from full time faculty and staff of the e-TQM College community.

To be considered for one of these awards, the papers must have been reviewed by the Technical Committee of the forum and the final version must have been accepted by the Committee for presentation at a session of the Forum. The paper must be original and must not be submitted anywhere else for possible presentation or publication.

In relation to the "Best Presentation Award" , candidates for the award must be both, the first author and the presenting author.

Benefits for Awards Winners

  • The winners of the ' best paper' award' and ' best presentation award' are recognized during the Gala Dinner of the forum.
  • Winners will be awarded a dated Framed Certificate or a Plaque -- engraving the contribution as "Best Paper Award" or "Best Presentation Award".
  • The names along with a passport size photograph and 100- words' biography of each winner as well as their paper abstract will be published on the forum website.
  • Winners of the award will be granted a one year free subscription to the International Journal of Excellence in e-Learning and to the e-Learning Grid which was launched during the 1st Annual e-Learning Excellence forum, earlier this January.
  • The papers of the award-winners will be published in the International Journal of Excellence in e-Learning with a citation that the paper/ presentation have received the award during the Annual forum of this year.
